Introducing ourselves in the neighbourhood

I finished the other post with our Pub Crawl sort of adventure where we went around to see the competition and compare the prices, so we know what we can work with price wise. After we were done we needed a little break, too much drink and we were knackered but Scott arranged a meeting with the management of Alterego to introduce ourselves and somehow get involved with their club, maybe working as a pre-bar, and having a club we can recommend for people who want to have quality fun time going out. So, Alterego is a gay club in our street, they are only open on Friday, Saturday and every night they have a dj playing and some shows. The prices are quite high, but it is a beautiful venue and the perfect crowd that would suit lost plus a  very cool bar team. So, we went down there and sat down with the resident, dj Alexx R., who has been very nice to us, and they were the first ones who appreciate the connections Scott has, for example they had Mark Doyle as a guest dj before in the club. Basically we said if there is a nice group of people at our bar, and we close at 2am, we would recommend Alterego, even setting up a wrist ban or stamp connecting the venues as the music they play would match our sounds on a friday saturday events. The other places around us, such as Peaches and Cream, the RnB club on the corner wouldnt fit our style, so we would rather tell people to go to Instant or to the gay club, depends on what kind of customers they are of course. Also, for us it is very important, that our bar is secure, but we dont want a security person to stand in front of it as we believe we can handle any situation but it would be good to know we have a back up so we asked them if we can talk to their security staff, just to have a number in case of emergency, we can call them or even just getting a radio for the bar.
Lost Pre Bar and club night partnership deal
We agreed with the manager and Alex, that this approach how Scott does it is very strange for us, even though we all worked abroad, so people in Hungary is going to be a bit distant with him at first, but we are looking for the people who are open to do something new and then try to create something amazing together in the heart of the city, such as Zaj DJ shop.
The thought of loosing ruby nearly broke our hearts
So, we wrote before about William, who is a african guy renting a bar in the Jokai street just 3 minutes from us. He has been very helpful with the information he gave us when we arrived here. he has been around the bar and he loved it. His place is called New Heaven, it is an African restaurant and bar, a beautiful and very big venue, very good location. The thing is, that he is not experienced in working in a bar and although he made the place look beautiful, he is not very confident running it. So Scott said we can go around on a Saturday night, he can dj for a couple of hours and we see if more people are coming in or not. We took all the dj gear round yesterday and went to his place to set it up, made a couple of changes in the bar, basic things, refilling the drinks, opening up the doors and put the music on. For sure, more people were interested in what is going on and although the place is dead most of the time, there were more people coming in yesterday, but unfortunately it is obvious he has never worked behind the bar. He is a lovely guy, but when someone comes in, it feels like they dont know what to do with the customers. It is always  interesting for us to see the examples of how other people do their businesses, and we can say what we like and dont like about it and what we would want to adopt from it. It was a weird and eventful 3 hours for sure:)!
The best indian around!!!!!
After that I just wanted to come home and relax, but Scott was overexcited as usual lol, so he wanted to go down to Alterego and give some tracks to Alex, which he did, but they were too busy last night with the show, so we didnt talk much. But we have a very nice guy behind the bar who has been lovely in the past two days we spent there. We danced and drank and release a bit of stress from the past month. We took too much on ourselves, and I think we are realising it now that we need to slow down, and take the steps one by one otherwise we are going to get lost in this. We decided to work with four companies apart from the hostels we are going to approach. These are two restaurants, one Indian and one Thai place next to us, Indigo and Parazs

wow thai food at its best

with the best food around, which is good for us, since we are not going to have food at the beginning, so we can let people order their meals here and have them eat here or either advertise the restaurants for customers to go there. Also, Zaj DJ for the sound and hopefully Alterego later when we are already open.
Today was a key example of this by our lack of concentration in the morning when we were about to go to the flat for a meeting with our landlady, we were at the door, when all of a sudden out of the blue, Ruby ran off and didnt stop. Scott started chasing her when I locked the door and ran after them. We were screaming and shouting and she wouldnt stop, just ran directly to the Terez korut. The only lucky thing was that it was Sunday, so it wasnt busy, but she was running on the street where the cars were going when finally someone catched her in time. It was awful and really not a good experince. We have some problems with the dogs, we spoilt them too much, so when a normal dog would stay with its owner or listen to it, we didnt train them, so they dont really care if we call them. With today shocking events with the thought of loosing ruby we realised this has to stop, because it is not being good to them, it is putting their lives at stake by being too nice. From now on, this is going to stop, we have to pay more attention to them and train them as dogs.
After such an eventful day we are going into next week busy again, so much to do, fingers crossed we have the company and the licence as soon as we can, so we can have the drinks in. Cant wait to open and be a bit normal again, because I know I said I wouldnt want to work in an office doing 8-4 shifts, but this is so much to handle, it really takes courage and effort to do and go with it all along. Oh well, this is what we signed up for and we get our reward when we have you guys coming in and have a great time together:)!!! But it feels now with this project that the final pieces of the puzzle are falling into their places...
